Sierra Leone News: Driver Arraigned for Fraud

A driver Santigie Sesay, 36, has been arraigned before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie after he was charged by the police for obtaining money by false pretenses which is contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act.
According to the prosecution, the accused on Friday October 19, 2018, at Kissy Dock Yard in Freetown, obtained the sum of 30,100,000 million from Noah Kabia, a dealer of pharmacy products. The accused pleaded not guilty after the charge was put to him.
Counsel representing the accused, Lawyer A. Koroma applied for bail for his client on the grounds that he was granted bail at the Criminal Investigation Department and has never made an attempt of running away. He said that the charge is a mere allegation. He said that accused has reliable sureties to stand in his recognizance.
After his plea, Magistrate Bonnie granted the accused person bail in the sum of Le50 million, two sureties in like sum whom must be residence in Freetown and must produce a letter of appointment with a National Identification cards.
The matter was adjourned for further hearing.
