Sierra Leone News: Elderly Woman Remanded for Fraudulent Conversion

An aged woman Haja Rugiatu Jalloh has been remanded after she was committed to high court by Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court №2 on two counts of fraudulent conversion.

The accused was granted bail on her first appearance, but was remanded shortly after her case was mentioned in court, and the presiding magistrate ruled that, after preliminarily investigation she has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the accused has a case to answer at the high court.

‘’The matter is committed to the high court for proper trial and accused is remanded in custody at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre until the matter comes up at the high court for trial,’’ she ruled.

It could be recalled that the accused Haja Rugiatu Jalloh on Tuesday June 12, 2018, at №8 Fofanah Lane Calaba Town in Freetown allegedly fraudulently converted to her own use and benefit two Pathfinder jeeps each valued at US$6000 (Le121,000,000) which are entrusted to her by one Komba James Saquee for the purpose of sale, property of one Mamadu Yaya Diallo.

It was also alleged that the accused converted to her own use two Lessez-passez with their cards, each valued Le2,000.000 entrusted to her by one Komba James Saquee for the purpose of safe keeping, property of Mamadu Yaya Diallo.
