The government through the Ministry of Finance has on Thursday September 5, 2019, paid the two months (July and August) salaries of staff of the University of Sierra Leone totaling Le 8, 534, 978,480.

The payment came after the Academic Staff Association, Fourah Bay College (ASA-FBC), gave a 21-day strike notice to the government over the delay in the payment of salaries for July and August 2019 as well as the full annual leave allowances since the Government of Sierra Leone decided to take over the direct payment of salaries on July, 2019.

The payments were effected after the University of Sierra Leone represented by Fourah Bay College (FBC), Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Finance.

The Vice President of ASA — FBC, Dr. Abdulai Walon-Jalloh confirmed to this medium that he has received a bank alert of his two months salaries. “I cannot confirm the payment of my other colleagues because we all have bank accounts at different bank,” he said. “But I have received mine.”
