The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tumac Group of Companies, Dr. Mohamed Tudae Macarty has said on Tuesday August 20, 2019, that no matter what he will continue to do his philanthropic work in in the Freetown municipality and the country at large.

The medic cum philanthropist and politician made this comment when speaking to Premier along the Black Hall Road where he was supervising the ongoing rehabilitation work on the Kissy Road Cemetery fence that collapsed sometimes ago due to heavy downpour.

The Tumac CEO said that he had invested millions of Leones in ensuring that the perimeter fence of seven cemeteries across the Freetown municipality are erected in order respect and protect the dignity of the dead. “The cemetery is our final home,” he said.

Explaining what inspired him to do such a classic job, Dr. Macarty said he was passing along the highway when he saw people around the Kissy Mess-Mess community throwing dirt inside the cemetery, and saw a man urinating by the cemetery while they are burying another person on the other side.

The Tumac CEO said he knew that the Freetown City Council (FCC) had a lot of work to do, and therefore decided to write them officially requesting their permission to go ahead with the work.

“I was moved by that sight and I said to myself this is wrong and something must be done about it. It was there and then I made up my mind to do the fencing of the Kissy Mess-Mess cemetery. I spent well over Le300 million on the Kissy Mess-Mess cemetery fencing,” he said.

He said that after completing the first cemetery, he received a lot of commendation from different quarters which motivated him to do more.

He said that he had completed the fencing of seven cemeteries across the municipality including Kissy Road, Race Course Road, Kissy Mess-Mess, Circular Road, Palmer Street and two at Aberdeen for both Muslim and Christian.

Dr. Macarthy, who returned from the United States late last month, said he was in America when he saw on social media the collapsed Kissy Road cemetery fence and was also informed by others. In order to save the rest of the fence, he decided to do the rehabilitation.

He said apart from the doing the cemetery fences, he has also constructed three police posts in Texaco Lorry Park, the Approved School, and Police Barracks Operations Office.

In addition to that, he said he had constructed boreholes, schools, roads, and mosques in various communities.
