Momoh Chance Kamara from Rokimbi village in Port Loko district last Thursday allegedly killed his younger brother, Mohamed Chance Kamara, over a plantation left by their deceased father.
This Crime Officer, Detective Superintendent Hassan Sewa Kamara, of North/West Regional Police Division told Premier News that the two brothers are from a polygamous home and their deceased father, Pa Santigie Chance Kamara, had four wives. The two brothers are from different mothers.
According to the Police, the two brothers had a dispute over a palm plantation left by their late father.
“On that fateful day, Momoh was around their house while his wife Isatu Kamara was doing her domestic chores when she suddenly realised that, her brother-in-law, Mohamed ‘Chance’ Kamara was heading towards their late father’s farmstead, possibly to harvest palm fruits,” D/Supt. H. S. Kamara explained. Momoh’s wife informed her husband that his younger brother had left for the farmstead to harvest some farm produce.
According to the report, Momoh immediately left the township to follow his younger brother to the plantation, vowing to stop his younger brother from harvesting. A short while later, the two brothers: Momoh and Mohamed were engaged in a scuffle resulting in the death of Mohamed ‘Chance’ Kamara while Momoh sustained serious injuries, and was rushed to the Port Loko Government Hospital, where he was responding to medical treatment. He later escaped under the watch of an Operational Support Division (OSD) officer during the early hours of Sunday, June 23, 2019.
The corpse of Mohamed ‘Chance’ Kamara was taken to the mortuary at the same hospital.
Meanwhile Salamatu Kamara, the wife of Momoh, the alleged murderer, has been arrested and detained while investigations are ongoing.
