Sierra Leone News: Over 400 Liters of Fuel Stolen at Radisson Blu Hotel

Three accused persons Saidu Bangura, Morlai Osaio Turay and Abubakarr Sesay have made their second appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at Court №3 for allegedly stealing over 400 liters of fuel from the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel.

The three accused persons were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and larceny.

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused persons on Saturday June 29, 2019, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Aberdeen conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony.

Count two states that, the accused persons on the same date and at the same place stole 20 fuel rubbers containing 400 Liters of diesel fuel valued at Le3,400,000, property of Radisson Blu Hotel.

According to the prosecution witness, Kassim Basma, on the day of the incident at around 6:30pm, while he was sitting at his porch, he noticed two men were transferring fuel into the empty rubbers.

Basma added that he saw the men filling up the rubber and transported them to the helipad for safe keeping.

He said he counted about 20 rubbers of fuel being transported from the Hotel, and that at the time of the incident there was a tree covering the CCTV camera at the hotel.

He furthered that, based on what he saw he took some pictures and videos with his mobile phone. He said he had to Google search Radisson Blu hotel and took their number and gave a call.

He said he explained what he saw happening at the back of the hotel’s compound to the manager of the hotel and also informed them that he would forward the evidence he gathered to them.

Basma said he made statement to the Aberdeen Police Station.

The matter was prosecuted by A.S.P Hawa Bah.

The accused persons are on bail and the matter was adjourned to Thursday September 12, 2019.
