Sierra Leone News: Three Remanded for Robbery with Aggravation

One John Suma Kamara has on Tuesday October 22, 2019, testified before Magistrate Sulaiman Koroma of the Ross Road Court №1, on how he was attacked by three accused persons in the early hours of September 29, 2019, while was heading toward the government Bus Station on Wallace Johnson Street.
The accused persons,Idrissa Lahai, Foday Sillah and James Kamara were arraigned on four count charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Led in evidence by the prosecutor J. Williams, the witness recognized all the accused persons and recalled September 2019, when he went out with his friends
He said that as they were approaching Wallace Johnson Street, they saw group of men coming towards their direction. He said the accused attacked him adding that the 1st accused commanded him to hand over his bag he was carrying.
He said after he refused to do as commanded, the 2nd accused grabbed his bag and the 3rd accused started hitting him on his face in the presence of one Michael Yakuba who ran away when the struggle intensified.
He added that the 2nd accused attempted to stab him on his stomach but he blocked him with his hand, adding the accused stabbed him three times on his hand.
“The 3rd accused then gave the 2nd accused an order to cut off my head. At that point I tried to protect my head and in the process the machete cut my right hand, and at that moment I became weak and fell down and they took my properties including cash of Le122,755, 000,” he said.
He said when he regained consciousness he noticed he has lost blood but managed to call his wife who accompanied him to the PWD police post where he reported the matter.
The witness said that on October 4, 2019, police from the Ross Road Police Division visited him at the hospital to obtain statement from him
He added that on October 7, 2019, he was invited to Ross Road Police Division where he identified all three accused persons.
The accused were remanded at the Male Correctional Center while the matter was adjourned to October 29, 2019.
