Sierra Leone News: Two Men Arraigned for Robbery with Aggravation

Tow accused persons Ishmeal Tucker and Alie Kargbo were arraigned before Magistrate Ngegba of Court №2 for robbery with aggravation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The two accused persons allegedly assaulted and robbed one Fatmata Kanu.
According to the particulars of the offense, the accused persons on Saturday August 20, 2019, at Rawdon Street, being armed with knife allegedly robbed one Fatmata Kanu of her money and properties valued at Le625, 000 and also assaulted her in manner causing her actual bodily harm.
Explaining her ordeal, the victim Fatmata Kanu said on the day of the incident, after doing her business she was returning home at Rawdon Street when she felt the first accused Ishmeal Tucker drew her bag from her, adding that when she turned to know what was going on, the second accused raised up his clothes and showed her the knife and ordered her to hand over everything she had to them.
“I then handed over the items to them to save my life. After received the items they pushed me into a nearby gutter where I sustain many wounds, and they ran away,” she explained.
After her testimony, both the 1st and 2nd accused persons whom were not represented by a solicitor cross-examined the witness.
The accused persons were denied bail, while the matter was adjourned to September 4, 2019, for further hearing.
In another development, one Mamoud Kamara was also arraigned for shop breaking and larceny contrary to section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
It was alleged that the accused Mamoud Kamara alias Street King on Monday 19th August 19, 2019, at Exodus Lane, Off Peninsular Road in Western area broke and entered into the shop of one Alusine Kargbo and stole therein properties worth Le8,590, 000.
After the charges were read to the accused and with no witness to lead evidence, the accused were remanded in custody, while the matter was adjourned to September 4, 2019, when the prosecution led by E.A Kpulun is expected to produce a witness.
