The leading telecom operator, Orange Sierra Leone, on Tuesday and Wednesday launched its 4G broadband internet service in Kenema and Bo districts, respectively.
Orange’s 4G high-speed broadband internet is an unmatched life changing experience that puts digital communication completely within the customer’s control.
Speaking at the launch of the 4G broadband internet, the General Secretary of Orange Sierra Leone, Haffie Haffner disclosed that her company is on the verge of investing an additional US$24 million on network infrastructure to enable people access telecommunication services.
She said that Orange is committed to providing access to Information Communication Technology (ICT) services in Sierra Leone. She said that the launching ceremony of the 4G broadband internet stands as a milestone for the people of Kenema and Bo.
She said that Orange is the first company to invest US$35 million in the country after the Ebola outbreak in 2016, to strengthen its network infrastructure. She also said that the company has invested over US$55m in modernized equipment and the creation of new sites across the country. She stated that Orange Sierra Leone has 247 sites in 925 localities with 105 modernized power stations across the country.
Mrs. Haffner said that Orange is currently operating in 20 countries in Africa including Sierra Leone. She said that Kenema is the second city to benefit from the fastest 4G broadband internet.
Mrs. Haffner pointed out that the launch of 4G broadband internet will help customers access faster and cheaper internet connectivity.
The Chief Marketing Officer, Orange Sierra Leone, Alimatou Mbaye said Orange is positioned to benefit Sierra Leoneans a lot in connecting every town in the country.
Mbaye said that Orange Sierra Leone will continue to grow and make life easy for everyone, adding that company is currently sponsoring 50 Ebola Orphans. She added that Orange is also investing US$1.5 million on free quality education, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
She assured the people of Kenema and Bo that the company will continue to provide the best, affordable and quality services to the people of Sierra Leone.
Madam Mbaye implored the people of Kenema and Bo to make good use of the 4G broadband internet.
The Paramount Chief of Nongowa Chifdom, PC Sadiq M. Kapuwa Matoe IV, expressed thanks and appreciation to Orange Sierra Leone for considering his chiefdom for 4G broadband internet.
The Chief said that the investment is a laudable, as Kenema is a place to do business.
PC concluded by imploring the company for given the people of Kenema the 4G opportunity that will help them access faster and cheaper internet connectivity.
The Mayor of Kenema City, Thomas Karimu Baio, who launched the 4G broadband network, thanked Orange Sierra Leone for choosing Kenema as the second city to have access to the facility.
In Bo, Paramount Chief Lapia Boima congratulated Orange for the timely intervention. He said that the internet facility will help the young boys and girls in the country in their educational pursuit. “It is a good news for the people of Bo, and we know what the 4G can do, as it will help our students do proper research in a record time,” he said.
