Sierra Leone News: Two Men Incarcerated for Robbery with Violence

The Presiding Magistrate at the Freetown Magistrate Court №1, Hannah Bonnie has on Monday September 2, 2019, remanded two accused persons for conspiracy and robbery with violence.
The two accused persons Alusine Marah, 23, and Balansama Marah, 20, were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy and robbery with violence contrary to section 23 (1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916 as repealed. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offenses when they made their first appearance before the court.
Police alleged that, the accused persons Alusine Marah and Balansama Marrah on Friday August 9, 2019, at Glawuwa Road, Yogomaia Section, in the Tengbeh Chiefdom, Koinadugu district allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to commit robbery with violence.
Particulars of offense states that both accused persons on the same date, and place robbed one Ishmael Marah of his mobile phone and other electronic assorted items to the total value of Le3,020,000, and a land document value at Le.2,000,000. It is alleged that the accused used personal violence on the said Ishmael Marah.
According to the victim’s statement to the police, the accused allegedly use a motorbike to carry out their robbery.
The accused were not represented by a lawyer, and the matter was adjourned to September 10, 2019.
The matter was prosecuted by Inspector I.G. Fofanah.
