Sierra Leone News: Woman Incarcerated for allegedly Stealing Child

Magistrate Abdul Sheriff of Court №3 on Tuesday August 29, 2019, remanded Fatmata Bangura, 20, for allegedly stealing seven-month-old Lamrana Bah.
The accused, Fatmata Bangura was arrested on August 20, 2019 by Detective Police Constable 10353 Bangura A. B.
The accused was arraigned on a count charge of child cruelty contrary to section 56 of the Offence Against the Persons Act 1861.
It was alleged that, the accused Fatmata Bangura on Saturday July 14, 2019, at №2 Mill Street, Freetown allegedly stole seven-month-old Lamrana Bah against the will of her person.
According to the complainant Zainab Sesay, the victim is her daughter and the accused is her neighbor. She recalled July 14, 2019, when her mother gave her information that her child has gone missing.
She said that she decided to search around for her daughter but could not find her, and decided to make a report at the East End Police Station. She said the next day the police went in search of the child.
She added that someone gave her husband information, and upon that information her husband and the police went to Tombo in Western area Rural District where they found the child and arrested the accused.
The matter was prosecuted by A.S.P Moses Moore, and the matter was adjourned to Tuesday September 3, 2019, for further hearing.
