The University of Sierra Leone, which constitutes Fourah Bay College (FBC), Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMMAHS), has rusticated 74 students for examination malpractice.
The University said in a statement on Friday September 6, 2019, that it has taken stringent measures in respect of the report it had received for examination malpractice from both FBC and IPAM.
The University said, “The management has so far taken action as follows: Rustication of 45 (forty five) students for one or two years at Fourah Bay College (FBC) in respect of the 2018/2019 academic year’s examination; Rustication of 20 (twenty) students of the institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) for one to two years, in respect of the 2017/2018 academic years’ examination; Expulsion of 9 (nine) students at Fourah Bay College (FBC) in respect of the 2018/2019 academic year’s examination.”
“Accordingly, this action is a reference to the approved policy on Examination malpractice by the University Court. The Management has therefore taken this decision after following due process of investigations in respect of the documented allegation,” the University said in a statement.
The University said the affected students have the opportunity to appeal to the University Court with immediate effect if they wish to seek further redress.
