Sierra Leone News: Judge Urges Law Officers Department to Serve Indictments to Accused

Justice Simeon Alieu on Wednesday September 18, 2019, urged the Law Officers Department to prepare an indictment to one Abdulai Bangura who allegedly attempted suicide. The indictment is to be served on or before October 1, 2019.
The 20-years-old Abdulai Bangura has spent five months at the Correctional Centre for attempting suicide.
The accused can’t recall the date he was arrested, but the matter was committed to the High Court on April 8, 2019. He added that he was going to school until the death of his mother.
During the fact finding trial of the court, the accused revealed that, at the time of his preliminary investigations at the Waterloo Magistrate court, he was granted bail but was unable to meet the bail condition.
The accused complained body and waist pain. He said when he was taken to the hospital, no proper medication was administered to him, and he was given the wrong medication.
Similarly, Justice Simeon Alieu also ordered that an indictment be served to one Samuel Bangura on or before October 3, 2019, who is being incarcerated for conspiracy, robbery with aggravation and wounding.
The accused revealed that he has been at the Correctional Centre for seven (7) months and the matter was committed to the High Court on May 7, 2019.
