Sierra Leone will travel to Liberia in the open of their 2022 World Cup Preliminary Qualifiers first week September with the return fixture to be played in Freetown a week after.

Sierra Leone and Liberia played to a goalless draw the last time they both meet in a friendly in 2018 during Liberian Independence Day celebration at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium.

The draw was held in Cairo on Monday 29 July 2019 by the Confederation of African Football which will see lower-ranked teams playing each other before going into groups.

The 14 winners will join the continent’s top-ranked exempted 26 sides from the September round of qualifiers, in the next draw to be held on a date still to be decided.

In another development, the Sierra Leone Football Association is inviting application for the position of a national football head coach who will take Leone Stars to the world cup qualifiers and African Nations Cup.

Position: National Team Head Coach (International)

Role and Responsibilities: This role represents a key position in the Sierra Leone Football National Team calendar for the cycle (2019–2022).

The Head Coach will be responsible for the appointment of his Technical backroom staff with the exception of the Team Manager, Welfare Officer and Team Doctor.

Together with the senior national team and technical staff, he will lead the program in preparation of the senior national team towards international games and qualifying tournaments.
