Sierra Leone News: Ports Acting GM Leads SONOCO Flour Mill on Sight Visitation

Acting General Manager, Sierra Leone Ports Authority, Yankuba Askia Bio, led a delegation comprising government officials including investors from the Sonoco Flour Mill on a sight visit at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay Freetown.

The government officials include the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, and the Chairman of the National Commission for Privatization.

It was a follow-up visit on previous meetings with Sonoco Flour Mill for possibility to invest in Sierra Leone.

After the visit, SLPA Ag. General Manager, Askia Bio stated that the delegation has identified an ideal location for the construction of a state of art flour mill at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay for exporting flour across the sub-region.

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Rev. Abraham James Sesay-Jones has inter alia stated that Sonoco Flour Mill has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of Sierra Leone. added that plans are underway for the establishment of their company’s branch in Freetown.

The commencement of its operations in Sierra Leone would be an addition to the existing flour mill in the country.
