The Sierra Leone western area Female League, which has long been in the wilderness, will commence on Saturday July 6, 2019, at the Sierra Leone Police Field, Kingtom in Freetown between archrival Sierra Leone Police vs. Sierra Leone Prison, according to the organizers
The national coordinator Mamoud Kargbo said that the president of the Sierra Leone Football Association Isha Johnsen will be in attendance to see the commencement of the league for the first time after her reinstatement to the Secretarial.
He said that the First Lady’s Trophy will see 10 teams from western Area ( 4 teams to qualify), 5 teams from North west — 1 to be qualifier, 5 teams from north — 1 to be qualifier, 7 teams from the east (2 teams to qualify), and 7 teams from the south (2 teams to qualify) qualify for the national.
He said that after all regions matches, 10 teams will qualify for the nationals, while the host districts will be Kenema and Makeni with 5 teams each, one qualifier from each side to play the grand final in Kenema city.
Mr. Kargbo said that the western area opening ceremony with be on Saturday July 6, 2019, at the police playing field, Kingtom at 4:00pm. The kick off will be done by the Sierra Leone Football Association President Madam Isha Johansen.
He said that this league will also help greatly in getting our girls ready for any female competition and to identify young talents.
