The Institute of Governance Reform (IGR) has said in its 2019 Sierrapoll report that 48 percent of women in Sierra Leone believe that they are treated fairly by the President Bio administration compared to 45.2 percent who say they are not.

The maiden report which was released on Monday September 16, 2019, was based on 2,200 interviews randomly selected nationwide in 2nd September to 8th September 2019.

The report shows that only 10 percent of citizens believe that the government is doing well in managing prices of goods, and that a similar low percentage believe in the Government’s ability in making food available (14.5 percent) and providing jobs (24.7 percent).

While looking at the proceedings of the commissions of inquiry within the last eight months, the report pointed out that 68.1% of Sierra Leoneans believe that the ongoing Commissions of Inquiry (COI) is fair, and that it was unsurprisingly that the Commissions enjoy the least trust from supporters of the main opposition APC (42.7 percent), whose members are under investigation, while supporters of all other parties are less critical.

“This number shows a 14-point drop in public trust in the COI from 82 percent when the hearing began in January 2019,” the report shows.

The report which looked at the eighth month proceedings of the commissions stated that the survey was conducted in a bid to test the citizens’ views regarding the fairness of COI process and perceptions of the action of the Anti-corruption commission.
