Women’s Day: Leone Rock Metal Group Supports the Less Privileged
The International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8, every year to commemorate the milestone of women across the globe in several areas of humanity. This day is a national holiday in Sierra Leone. Suffice to say that in a society like Sierra Leone where majority of its women live below the poverty line, there is the need to collaborate to provide them with basic supplies.
It is against this backdrop that Leone Rock Metal Group, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 undertook distribution of food items, including rice, cooking oil, onions, salt etc. to over 200 less privileged households in the capital, Freetown.
The donation exercise saw representative of the company including all the female workers took to the streets of Freetown to donate to the less privileged who were mostly women.
The exercise targeted women with disabilities as well as the aged.
At all the points, recipients were very delighted and expressed their greatest satisfaction for the donation.
Meanwhile, the company sees that donation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in providing for the needed at the time when women are celebrated.
In a separate arrangement, the company also donated the sum of ten million Leones (Le10,000,0000) to the Association of Women in Tourism to help them organize their International Women’s Day programmes in tourism at the Palace Bar, Lumley Beach, Freetown.
